As busy as the weeks have been, it was nice to take a mini vacation out of state during the Memorial Day weekend. During my trip, I was able to illustrate a portrait from an inspiring exhibit.   On my trip to St. Louis, I was able to see the Faith Ringgold: American Quilt Exhibit at the Foundry Art Centre.  Ringgold is an internationally recognized African-American female artist known for her painted story quilts.  Knowing the basic of sewing and needle work, I truly appreciate her intricate work in her fabric framed narrative paintings.  I was able to capture some photos of her detailed work: quilts, paintings and sculptures (which I will post up soon).  Ringgold’s work carries an important message that we can learn fromand hopefully appreciate: “We don’t all have to be alike, and that for people to be different is wonderful and fine.”
